Stewardship
Holmdel Community United Church of Christ is a church committed to Answering God's Call to “do justice,
love kindness, and walk humbly with our God.” We do this through our worship and programs, and service
to the communities where we are located. We also stand up for the rights of those oppressed or marginalized.
To worship together and do what the Lord requires of us, we need your talents, skills, and treasure.

To worship together and do what the Lord requires of us, we need your talents, skills, and treasure.
At this moment, we particularly need your financial contributions. Our current level of pledges does not cover
our operating expenses. As you know, a pledge is a commitment to give the church a specific amount of
money for the Church’s fiscal year. During our May 2023 Congregational Meeting, our membership authorized
the Council to dip into the church’s endowment fund to cover operating expenses. While you have approved
this in previous years, we have never had to rely on the Church’s endowment to cover the church’s
operating expenses until this past year. It is anticipated that before the church’s fiscal year ends in
June, we will have withdrawn approximately $38,000 from the endowment. There are long-term
consequences for the church if pledges continue to fall short of our operating expenses and we continue to
draw down our endowment. In the future, we may be forced to consider major changes such as eliminating the
position of a full-time minister, merging our church with another to share operating expenses, or even selling
our church’s property.
It is against this backdrop that the Stewardship Committee is asking you, after careful and prayerful
consideration, to make a generous financial pledge to Holmdel Community UCC for the 2024-2025 fiscal year
so that we can continue to “do what God requires of us”.
